Our hand made terracotta pots and containers don't just belong in the garden. They look equally as good on a sunny window sill filled with herbs, packed with a dried flower arrangement or, if you put in a container like a jam jar first, you have a vase which will show off fresh flowers to their best. If you do want to put your pots in the garden, it is best to completely immerse them in water overnight before planting. This will lessen the chance of iron or water marks occurring. It will also stop the pots from taking up all the moisture from the soil. Take special care in winter. Our pots have a good degree of frost resistance in moderate winter conditions but you must ensure there is adequate drainage. Put at least 2.5cm of crock (broken pottery or gravel) in the bottom and use a good potting compost, not garden soil which does not usually give enough drainage or goodness. It is always best to move the pots to a sheltered position to avoid the worst of the weather and don't leave the pots standing in their saucers.
